(Since I have been making new friends, I figured I would create a little bio here so you can learn more about me. I didn't want to clog up a social media feed with all of this, and I also wanted people to explore this blog a little more).
My name is Matt Henshaw (he/him), and I am a creator of various art living in Central Illinois. I live with my wife, Jennifer, and our cats Rumi and Bo. I have worked for my local hospital system for about 6 years, and I work in IT (but don't tell IT people I say that). I love my job and the people I get to work with. Since March 2020 I have mainly been working from home. On top of my day job, I am also co-chair of the hospital's ethics committee, and I work as an advanced care planning facilitator and facilitator trainer. I have also volunteered and been the chairperson of the No One Dies Alone program at the hospital (called Caring Presence) since 2016.
I am from Western NY originally, and moved to Illinois in June of 2011.
My hobbies are intimately interwoven with my creative excursions. I am a musician, writer, and artist. I have played guitar since high school, and after college began releasing solo music and performing both solo and with groups in the Rochester, NY area. I took a pause from making music from 2013-2020. In 2020 I started recording and releasing music again, now working exclusively in the MIDI-verse.
In 2017 I self published my first collection of haiku poetry written over the course of several years. My work is now primarily prose poetry and micro-fiction. I am writing and accumulatng work for a second collection called "Black Ribbon and Other Perturbed Textiles" which I will hope to release in 2022 either self-published or with a small press.
I really like weird horror stuff, both written and in film. I would love to utilize my music in soundtrack work (either filmed or as background atmosphere for readings).
Thanks for coming by to read this, and please explore this site to learn more about what I have created. Most things are free to stream, but contact me if you want to hear things not easily accessible and I will hook you up.
